The Mall: C66-72
The Mall is the central promenade into the heart of Central Park.
It is a grand walkway bordered on the south end by the
Olmsted Flower Bed which leads to
Literary Walk and beyond to the
Naumburg Bandshell.
It is bordered on the north by the
Terrace Bridge the most ornate structure of its kind in Central Park and
Bethesda Terrace and ultimately the
Lake.
The Mall is the singlely most active gathering place in the Park and on weekdays its is teeming with New York residents and tourists who gather there to enjoy the infectious activity and excitement.
Skaters have dominated the area of the Mall to the west of the
Bandshell and skateboarders and dance skaters can always be observed working out their elaborate moves.
